Nido 1

In the painted tree Montessori infant program is called Nido  Italian for “nest” which starts with 8 weeks to 12 months.The environment in the Nido classroom  is calm and peaceful with unique settings to nurture and care for stimulating the brain development from the beginning years of the childhood.These earliest experiences are carefully shaped to set the stage for all of the years to come. 

In our Nido environment, children are free to safely explore their world with the guidance of trained, loving adults.  Each infant in  our  care is a precious individual whose development is to be nurtured and celebrated. Every detail of the beautiful, calming environment is selected with the child’s holistic growth in mind. At this age, children are building motor skills such as crawling, sitting, standing and taking their first steps.       

Developmentally, the brain is growing and making rapid synaptic connections  and the  setting is more   calm and relaxing, inviting, and homelike, with soft rugs, a rocking chair, and all materials  in baskets for  children to easily reach and explore.  Colors are muted,  the  atmosphere itself so  peaceful.
